Belarusian sprinter Kristina Timanovskaya stated she fears arrest if she returns to her house country, in an interview with Belarusian sporting activities news site Tribuna on Sunday.
Timanovskaya is now in limbo in Tokyo just after what she explained as an attempt to forcibly return her to Minsk.
“I am worried that I may well be jailed in Belarus,” she explained, speaking from Tokyo’s Haneda airport. “I am not fearful of getting fired or kicked out of the national staff. I’m involved about my safety. And I assume that at the instant it is not secure for me in Belarus. I didn’t do anything, but they deprived me of the suitable to take part in the 200 meter race and desired to mail me household.”
Timanovskaya did not depth specifically what she feared she would be jailed above, but her concern of reprisal arrives after she spoke out versus nationwide sporting authorities.
In an Instagram article on July 30, she stated that she had been involved on a checklist to compete in the 4×400 meter relay with no her consent.
Timanovskaya instructed Tribuna that she was “outraged” and that doing so was “a complete disrespect” mainly because it is a distance she had never competed in right before. After recording a video on Instagram venting her frustrations, she stated that “they [team officials] started off calling me with threats and demanding to delete the movie if I want to go in advance in sporting activities.”

Timanovskaya explained to the news site that an official from her countrywide workforce went to her room on Sunday afternoon and told her to report to the airport in a make any difference of several hours. In response to a statement from the Belarusian Nationwide Olympic Committee alleging that she was withdrawn from the competition thanks to doctors’ analysis of her “emotional and psychological point out,” she claimed: “No medical practitioners arrived up to me. No 1 examined me.”
